Believed to be Lt. Cdr. Perry Blythe Cott, USNR. Cott earned his B.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton and went on to an illustrious career in museum administration and curatorship at the Worcester Art Museum and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.This portrait may have been taken in Rome.
