Description
EARLY ROMAN LAMP OF DOUBTFUL TYPE. Fine, buff clay with remnants of dark brown varnish. Stamp on bottom? Nozzle missing. L. preserved .089; H ..04; Dia .067. Deeply sunk rim with ornament of raised concentric circles around filling hole. In the space on the rim between these and the handle is an ornament resembling a fish tail; the opposite side of the rim has an ornament of which two volutes at the bottom remain. Two incised lines at top of handle. Reverse: ornament within base ring too badly preserved for identification.
