Description
Top of moulded lamp; transition step from Hell. to Roman lamp (?). Body more oval than round, rather large discus, plain rim, side scrolls on nozzle bridge, thin vertical handle pierced from side to side. Rather soft, fine, buff clay. Remnants of red varnish. l. preserved: .077; w: .055. Found with early Roman red varnished, lamps Hell. of Antioch group IV, stamped center b483-P2290 XAPITEC, glazed fragment with applied decoration b484-P2291.
