Description
Fragment of a Greek inscription on a piece of grayish marble: broken off on right side.
Rather coarse-grained marble varying from a grayish-white on upper half of inscribed surface to a light gray on lower half of inscribed surface. Inscribe surface free from lime deposit, pitted: lower surface rough picked, covered with lime deposit.
l. of lower edge of marble with broken corner restored: .22; l. of upper edge of marble with broken corner restored: .115; h.: .283; approx. th.: .053; h. of letters: .04-.06.
Traces of blue and red paint in letters, destroyed in making squeeze. On the right side between and encroaching on the second and third lines of the inscription is the curved cutting for a hole ca. .05 in restored dia. Inscribed: [sketch]
