Description
Lamp of type not recorded in publications of lamps found in Corinth and Antioch. Central handle and fragment of side missing. Rather hard, fine-grained, probably pure, light brown clay. Traces of medium red varnish on exterior and interior. No gloss preserved. l: .053; w: .044; h. to rim: .025. Flat, narrow rim; very wide filling hole. From the center of the lamps rises a hollow cylinder, open at the bottom and broken off just above the rim. Found in a deposit of Hellenistic black and red-varnished, some "Pergamene"
