H. 1.767 W. 1.565 Mosaic of the Seasons. "Spring". Outer border edged in black, filled with yellow. Crowstep borders red and white. Guilloche border outlined in black with strands of a) brown, yellow, white and b) grey-green, light grey, white; single white tessera in center of each loop. Emblema border, red. Ground, white. Spring: flesh in tones of pale pink with white highlights and shadows greyish red, violet, and light grey; fingers and toes separated by dark red; features defined in dark red and violet; hair, violet, brown, and dark red. Wreath in glass: light green, light blue, black, and grey-blue leaves, and flowers modelled in yellow-green, yellow, and blue-grey. Wings in greys with touches of black glass in center and of violet-grey glass along edges of wings and modelling some of the feathers; patch of yellow limestone at top of his right wing. Mantle, emerald green glass with light green and yellow-green glass highlights and very dark green limestone shadows; border at hem, brown, dull orange, and ivory white limestone, yellow and what seems to have been greenish yellow glass. Bowl modelled with horizontal stripes of brown and yellow changing to dark brownish grey at the right; line of dark blue-violet glass along bottom. Fruit and flowers in bowl in two shades of blue glass, blue-grey, black, white, yellow, orange, and dark red glass, and dark red, dark grey, dark green-grey, dark yellow, and dark violet limestone; leaves of emerald green, light and yellow-green glass. Cast shadows, light grey.
