The scene represents a scaenaefrons with three actors on the stage. Crowstep borders, black and white. Border between, red. Emblema border red, edges with to rows of black inside. Emblema: field, black. Podium of the scaenaefrons: front of the plinth, yellow with line of red shadow along upper edge; top of plinth, white with light grey shadow at back; dado, yellow with line of red along bottom and dark brown shadow at top thrown by projecting surbase which is yellow with black line of shadow along the bottom and a line of white highlight along the top. Dado relief, Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs: black shadow at side and along upper edge of frieze, and white highlight along bottom edge, giving illusion of the frieze being inset in the dado; background, dark red. All the forms of the frieze are modelled in the same color scheme: olive green and grey-brown with light brown, yellow, and white highlights, and shadows dark brown and dark grey with a few outlines accented by dark red. Each form is outlined against the background with black shadow to give a sculpted effect. Cast shadows, black. Base of caryatid column at left repeats forms of the podium. Front of the plinth, yellow with line of black shadow at bottom and line of red at top; shadowed side grey-brown with line of black at top; plinth white with light grey shadow where it joins the dado, and entirely in light grey shadow at the side. Dado, vertical face in elevation, yellow with line of red along bottom; vertical face in perspective in grey-brown shadow with lines of black and dark grey. In center of dado, just below the break, is lower edge of a panel with sides in black shadow, and background red. Surbase, grey with white highlight along lower edge. Top of the base, green-grey shading to dark grey with shadow cast by the caryatid, black. Base of pilaster on back wall, light grey. Caryatid at left: drapery at her feet in rich variety of folds; at left, in grey-brown, dark grey-violet, and dark brown shadow; lighted folds, yellow with white highlights, shaded in dark brown and dark violet; between her legs the shadows are dark grey, olive green, and black, emerging into half light over her left leg where the drapery is grey-brown and olive green shaded in dark grey, and passing, at the right, into deep shadow, dark grey and black. Feet, yellow shaded in brown, with white highlights on soles, and a red line above sole. Flesh of arm, yellow with pale grey highlights passing through dark brown shadow to violet; dark grey-greem shadow on back of hand; face, yellow with pale grey highlights passing to violet shadow around chin; her left cheek in dark grey-violet shadow; her right eye in violet shadow touched with red; pupil, red; shadow on her left cheek running from tip of nose to chin, red; hair above her forehead, red and violet shaded in black; at side, brushed up over bandlike headdress, yellow and white shaded in grey-green, violet, and red; flower spring in her hair, leaves dark green-grey, flower yellow tipped with white; hair along left side of neck, grey-green and black; at right side, white and black; headdress, yellow and white shading through dark brown to black; earring, yellow; bracelet, dark grey-violet, yellow, and white. On her head is a polos supporting the entablature; polos, yellow and white shading through dark brown and dark grey-violet to black; far side of rim of spreading top outlined in dark grey-violet. Pilaster capital: light grey in front passing into dark grey-violet shadow at side; the cone has a flat profile, the face in elevation dark grey, face in perspective, light grey; line of black shadow along top of capital beneath entablature. Caryatid at right; destroyed except for raised arm and lower part of her face and neck; flesh of arm, yellow and pale grey with white highlights, passing into grey-violet shadow on the right and to dark brown and brownish green shadow on the left; face, pale grey and yellow with white highlight, passing into dark grey-green shadow on chin and grey-violet shadow on cheek; beneath chin, shadow dark violet ranging through grey-violet to light grey, with dark grey shadow where the neck approaches the background; at left, neck outlined in light grey; hair, grey-green and black; earring, yellow tipped with white; traces of leaves, grey-green edged in dull yellow. Shaft and top of polos, black shading through red and dark brown to yellow with grey-green shadow; underside of spreading top, yellow and black, with rim below the light area, dark grey-green. Bracelets, dark red, yellow, and white. The stage between the two caryatids framed in black shadow on both sides and along top. In upper left corner, beside the pilaster capital, the background is white. Floor of the stage dark grey shading to light grey at bottom. In center of stage, traces of rich drapery of three figures. Figure at left: overdrape, at left side pale grey shading to white with pale tan in the half light and brownish green shadows; shadows inside the folds overhanging the tunic, dark grey and brownish green; at right, drapery passes from a dull orange, brown, and pale tan area into dark shadows, dark grey-green, dark grey-violet, and black. Edge of shadow where overdrape and tunic meet, black. Tunic: red, pink, and violet, with a white highlight across leg a left, wide dark red shadow in center, and dark grey-violet passing into black shadow on both legs. A few violet tesserae below the break seem to indicate the figure's foot. Figure in center: tunic, brownish green with dark grey-violet, grey-green, olive green and dark brown shadows; black shadow outlines the left side; overdrape: on exterior, folds are dark grey and black with medium grey in the half light that becomes dark grey-brown above; lining of folds at edge, medium grey with white highlights and touches of pale tan; at right of overdrape, narrow edge of tunic reappears. Figure at right, immediately juxtaposed: drapery, light and dark grey-violet and black; folds of the overdrape have a lining of dark red and black with light grey-violet on exterior; at left of lower fold is a dark red area edged in dark grey-brown touched with yellow. Roof of the entablature supported by each caryatid, light grey outlined in black shadow. Cornice: face in elevation, yellow with line of dark brown shadow thrown by projecting cornice which is in white highlight; face in perspective, in dark ochre shadow with a line of light grey beneath where the cornice projects. This cornice continues across wall at back, shading from violet-brown shadow at both sides to yellow in the middle; angle of corner at left marked by line of black. Entablature frieze, Battle of Gods and Giants: background of frieze red in the light, black in the shadow. Against the red background the figures are modelled in yellow and pale grey, with white highlights and shadows violet, grey-violet with touches of dark brown, grey-brown, and dark grey-green; black shadow outlines the forms against the background. In the shadow, the figures are modelled in grey-greens with dark grey and black shadows. Dentil frieze: face in elevation of entablature supported by caryatid at right, underside of the dentials light grey with interdentils white; face in perspective, underside of dentils white with light grey interdentils, front of dentils white with red interdentils, except in shadow at side where the dentils are light grey with black interdentils. Coffered cornice; brown-grey in shadow, yellow in light; coffers in shadow outlined at their side in light grey shaded in black, at their front, in white; coffers in light, outlined in black and dark grey. Cornice above: face in elevation, yellow with band of red below the projecting cornice which is white; face in perspective, in brown shadow with band of white below projecting cornice. Coffered ceiling: coffers outlined in black shadow; bottom sides light grey with dark grey shadow; inner rim edged in white; inner sides, pink in light, red in shadow, both changing to black at top where the center is indicated by a line of yellow. Leafy medallion in center, yellow with white highlights and shadows brown, violet-grey, and light grey.
