H. 1.395 W. 2.67 Mosaic pavement of Room C5Outer border, yellow edged in black-mottled grey. Panel at left: double-head hatchets in triangular corners, black-mottled grey. Central lozenge has outer border of yellow edged with black-mottled grey; center, white, containing circle inscribed with four-pointed star, both outlined in black-mottled grey; four sections of circle, yellow, each containing an elongated oval outlined in white with a grey-green filling and a black line down the center; star, white containing diamond outlined in red, on the right side touched with violet-pink, the center black with a white circle filled with yellow. Panel at right: black border with perspective ribbon pattern outlined in white, the outside green-grey and grey, the inside dark and light red. Inner border composed of two rows of black. Emblema: male figure at left wears a garment in greens, greys, and black draped around the neck and falling down the back; edged, black; folds shade from dark green to green-grey, grey, and where the garment falls on the lower right hand side, light grey at outer edge. Tunic, in yellow and ochre with dark violet clavia; clavia at right is jet black above and below sleeve to indicate shadow; darkest folds are stripes of dark green-ochre, shading through light ochre, touched on the sleeve with light red, to light yellow with long white highlights; money bag in left hand, dark violet shaded in jet black; garland in right hand edges in jet black on the ear side, and in red on the far side, with light pink and white center and jet black ribbons face modelled in violet-pink, pink, and white with grey shadow around nose and mouth and dark ochre shadow under chin and above eyebrows; mouth, dark red and pink; eyes, jet black; hair at left, dark ochre and dark green-grey; at right, jet black, dark green-grey, ochre; line of light yellow on neck just above garment; hands, violet, light pink, greyish white and white, the fingers separated by dark red; legs, violet and violet-grey with dark red shadow at right and white highlights on feet and toes; toes, back of heel, and soles of sandals outlined in red, sandal straps and ties, jet black. Cast shadow, grey. Seated female figure: tunic covering upper portion of her body and visible again at her feet and is caught on her shoulder by a clasp indicated by a single grey tessera outlined in black below, and set in a nest of dark green folds; darkest shadows and girdle beneath her breasts, jet black; rest of tunic shades from dark green to grey-green with medium and light grey in the light areas; outer folds of himation where they fall along her sides and are pulled over her legs, drawn in dark ochre that shades through ochre to light yellow and white; where himation covers the knees and legs, it has dark red shadows grading to medium red in the half light and light yellowish red in full light; outline of knee and leg at right, and hem of tunic where it touches the ground, dark grey; foot, white outlined in ochre and red; arm mottled in violet and pink with a broad white highlight on upper arm, and mottled reddish grey shadow; shadow on inside of her upper arm has two rows of greyish yellow; bracelets edged in red with a filling of dark ochre and yellow. Rectangular seat has large area of violet shadow changing to white; front side shaded in black and mottled grey-green. Foreground, light yellow.
