Description
Mosaic pavement of Room B5. H. 1.535. W. 1.39Outer border filled with design of interlacing octagons, each octagon composed of four elongated hexagons about a central square. Octagons in border at bottom of panel, white; those at the side have two sides white, and two sides light brown. Central squares contain red and white design, sometimes with a few black and light brown tesserae. Sides of border and outlines of design, grey-green. Lotus border: lotuses edged in black; V between petals, black; lotuses opening toward outer border, white shading through light brown to red; lotuses opening toward a central field white shading though grey mottled with ochre, to dark grey-green. Field pattern consists of rosettes intersected by a cross, and single heartshaped petals. Colors of pattern: red shading through light brown to white; crosses intersecting rosettes, and leaves and stem of petals grey-green.
