Description
Oven-support for glazed pottery; formed of a clay rod, pointed at ends. broken in two places and mended. Rather hard, coarse, buff clay. l.: .377; max. dia.: .043. Bubbly, green glaze extends in streaks from a point near one end of rod around and partly around rod. Trace of clay and glaze of a pot baked to surface of rod near its center. Many finger prints in surface of rod. This is one whole rod catalogued as a specimen of many fragmentary rods found near a kiln. The fragments have been preserved together in a box. Compare with wasters of glazed bowls a267-P1471, a454- P1552, and a472 - P1558 also found in 17-O.
