Description
Marble Fragment of Moulding. Well cut of a fairly coarse grade of white marble. The back side is barely smoothed.
h .149; w .218; t /.059
Unusual moulding fragment in two registers. The upper is a double meander pattern with a flat upright three-pointed leaf occurring from time to time (only one preserved). This rests on a simple flat moulding (w .015). Below is a highly conventionalized egg-and-dart moulding (w .07). The eggs are surrounded be a detached ridge and the dart has lost any semblance of staff. Below the lower retaining moulding the surface (what there is to be seen) is plain.
