Description

Marble Capital of Engaged Column. Nicely cut of a rather white marble, the surface is now covered with deposits and chipped.
h .338; w .412; t .062
This piece may possibly merely a section of a revetment, tho its decoration more nearly resembles a unit and the capital of an engaged column. A fully developed acanthus leaf in the center is flanked by two halves on either side equally well developed. It is in deep relief. Topped by a small band only (w .009) which immediately develops an egg-and-dart moulding only a small part of which is preserved (cf. 6203 A 221).
