Description

Corinthian capital of medium grained, white-grey marble. Three registers of acanthus leaves with elaborate volutes at the top form the decoration of this fragment. The marble is not of a poor quality and the working of it is only fair. Not a full side remains so the measurements are in some case approximate.Diameter at base, .35; width at top, .60; heigth, .445

Volute spring from "cauli-culi" like acanthus decoration and the leaf that extends to the end of spiral and supports the later is undercut completely. Half ac. lvs support volutes at corners.
Undercut acanthus leaves below volutes
Raised surface below 7 mm.
Rosette at middle of abacus.
Scalloped plan on top.
Pointed corners.
