Description
Ivory knife handle. Incised on each side: two birds facing each other and pulling a worm (?). Large fragment from one side including almost all of one bird missing: mended. max l: .067: max dia: .02. Several short incised lines resembling the footprints of birds occur in two or more places between the main designs. [symbol] incised on end of handle. Handle cylindrical at outer end. Part of iron knife and the rivets which held it on preserved. Found with one Lat A sherd and red and black varnished of III A.D. through Hellenistic: one Roman lamp, Antioch Group VI.
