Arthur Page Brown, 1886-1892 (1964)

Pictured above is the Neo-Romanesque Museum of Historic Art, designed by American architect Arthur Page Brown, who later produced the iteration of the Whig and Clio Halls we see on Princeton’s campus today. After its original completion in 1890, this building housed the museum and the new Department of Art and Archeology. The Venetian Gothic addition in the right of this image was donated in 1923 by the McCormick family, with design by Ralph Adams Cram. The structure was demolished in 1964 and replaced by the Steinmann & Cain International Style building to accommodate the growing collection and department.
